lotro gold guide-Rare trophy and recipe tables_30

RARE TROPHY AND RECIPE TABLES

Trophies are items you can get off of slain monsters and used in certain crafting recipes to add 44% to the chance of crafting a superior product. Even if you can’t use a trophy they are useful to hang on to or grind because other crafters will no doubt want them. It’s usually best to check and see which crafters are asking for which trophies in your kinship, since most of the rarer and better trophies will require a fellowship to defeat. Trophy items all have green backgrounds, and usually are described as being a crafting component. For farming level 10-35 monsters you can probably do it solo at the right level (being a Guardian or Champion class also helps.) Rare and useful trophies that you should grind for are marked in bold. Remember to bring your friends for help for most of these!
Also, the recipe listings below are for one-time use recipes.

lotro gold guide- Auction house tactics

AUCTION HOUSE TACTICS

Lotro is a fairly young game. As such the market isn’t as stable as other games. Gamers are focusing on reaching the upper-levels and reaching Master-Master level crafting with Tier 5 trophy gear. As such you have to be more careful in how you work the auction house.
1.)Check the AH before you craft or refine a single item. Sometimes the raw materials will sell for more than your crafted item, and the economy is constantly in flux (waves of players reaching new levels and such with a small amount of top-level players and top-level crafters.) As we said above, ingots by themselves do not sell at all (because there’s exp to be gained from processing them.) Most players just buy up basic ore to level their crafters and sell the resulting product from the ingots they crafted. Conversely, only processed wood sells on the AH usually.
2.)Check the price of the item you want to sell and take the average price you find unless there’s 4-5+ copies of said item. In this case it’s safe to undercut the price by 20-30 silver (or more if the asking price dips into gold.)
3.)If you see a seller flooding the market with a lot of products for cheap and you have the silver to spend on some of it, buy it up and wait until the product goes back into demand and sell at a higher price. The total cost of 3 stacks or all of the offered product should cost as much as or less than 30% of how much money you have on hand to spend (or whatever feels safe for you.)
4.)Always be on the lookout for cheap Misty Mountain Silver ingots, leather products, unprocessed ore, rare gems (if you’re a jeweller) and Tier 4 and 5 products (these usually have ancient or elven in the title.) You should, however, wait until your primary character is at or around 40 before bulking up on these materials.

lotro gold guide-Advanced Tips_28

Advanced Tips
As an explorer you can always sell your stacks, but you can never craft anything, which puts you at a slight disadvantage (in that you can’t make your own armor or weapons which, for crafting vocations, creates items usually surpassing those you’ll gain on quests or find as drops.) It helps however if you have a separate character that can craft the supplies you need or a friend/guildmate that will help (however this reviewer strongly suggests you do this solo.)
Once you reach level 50 and can gather materials wherever you want, we’d highly suggest creating a separate character with the tinker or armsman vocation which can be supplied and funded by your explorer.
Once your second crafter has reached level 10 hit up the master of apprentices in his or her area and choose the vocation. Then log unto your level 50 explorer and gather 200 pieces of rowan wood/four stacks (and two stack of wax for processing) or four stacks of copper ore (however, five stacks of copper ore and one stack of tin ore can do just as well if you happen to have that much.)
For every new level of crafting you should also gather an extra two stacks of that material (if it’s possible, however when you first start out you’ll probably have to wait and gather the materials in different waves.) It’s good to increase the level of your second crafter in waves because you’re going to need to go on specific quests at different levels of crafting to reach the next tier (don’t worry, these usually consist of finding a specific NPC and giving him or her a certain item, which you collect with said level 50 character.)
Once you reach the first tier of that crafting profession you’ll be sent on a quest. Each of these quests have a level requirement from 10 to 40, and there are four quests (one for every tier except apprentice.) Because of this you will need to level your crafter up to 40 if you want to reach the Master status of every tier and be able to craft some of the better items. The good news is LotRO isn’t that hard of a game to reach max level in, especially if you have a level 50 explorer funding your efforts (check Killerguides.com’s guide on levelling for more help.)

lotro gold guide-Refining Supplies And Beyond Fore

Refining Supplies And Beyond
Foresting

Ok, so you’ve got a hearty handful of wood, hides and ore. Now you take these supplies to a workbench or forge depending on what resources you want to refine.
For wood and hides you’ll be using foresting skills which require the foresting axe and a workbench. Hides you can refine for free provided you’re at the workbench, most wood (such as Rowan wood) requires wax and the wood to refine (wax can be purchased at most npcs located around the workbench or in crafting areas.)

Prospecting
The process for smelting iron ores is similar to foresting, but require a forge and the pickaxe instead of the workbench and foresting axe.
Keep in mind at every tier level to upgrade your crafting equipment to the next level. Lower tier equipment has a nasty habit of breaking on you when working on higher tier gear.

lotro gold guide-One-The explorer vocation

THE EXPLORER VOCATION
The Explorer is a very special Vocation in that it’s all about gathering. If you want to make money in LotRO it’s your primary Vocation. Just about any class can work with an explorer, but we suggest a Burglar. The Burglar can use her sneaking abilities to move past potentially dangerous threats near wood or ore nodes.
As an Explorer (like most gatherer professions in MMOs) you’re job is to wander around and gather wood, ore and hides that can be refined and sold in auction houses (everyone needs raw materials all the time, making the Explorer and lucrative vocation path.)
Starting Out
Start out by finding the profession master/mistress and choosing the Explorer Vocation (you can find out the closest profession master to you in the Vocations and Their Professions section above.)
Once you have the Explorer Vocation you’ll want to start off by buying a new set of Tailor’s Tools, Forester Axe and Pickaxe from the nearby profession supply salesman. The tools the game gives you from the start will break like a giant with osteoporosis. At this point you’ve probably got a handful of hides you can boil into refined hides.

lotro gold guide-Gathering Supplies_26

Gathering Supplies
When you sign up to be an Explorer you can gather wood and ore, the problem is you can’t use ore sense and wood sense at the same time (skills that are used to find the nodes for harvesting.) The best thing you can do it to have wood sense on at all times (remember, you have to activate it again every time you die, log out, gain special skills through destiny points, or rearrange your traits from a bard. Your best bet is to double-check your wood tracking skill every time you leave a town.)
You might be wondering how you’ll be able to track ore. Well the good news is ore and wood nodes are usually within close proximity of one another, and gatherable wood nodes are more plentiful than ore nodes (at least in heavily forested areas. If –
you change to a mountainous region it’s advised that you change to ore sensing.) Hides you will find just about anywhere from any animal with fur.
To gather wood or metal ore make sure you have the proper gathering item equipped (these can be configured in the hotkey box if you want to expedite the process of constantly changing from pick axe to forester axe and you will be constantly swapping these two items!) Once the right tool has been selected right click on the node and you’ll start the gathering process (wherein any nearby monsters of about a few feet will attack you on site, just like any other MMO.) Once the gathering process is complete a loot window will pop up and you can collect the resources from that node.
Aside from wood and ore you can gather and refine animal hides, but these are automatically gathered from the fallen bodies of dead animals regardless of class.

lotro gold guide-Woodworker in-depth

WOODWORKER IN-DEPTH

The woodworker is another one of those fun professions that doesn’t really give you that much reward, and on average your gathered materials will be worth more than the final product in most cases. That said however the items with will reap the most silver will probably be bows and staves. Lebethron and Ash wood will be your friends!

lotro gold guide-Mastery level crafting _22

MASTERY LEVEL CRAFTING

very crafting profession has multiple tiers of skill. These tiers are Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, Artisan and Master. After reaching these various tiers you can further train in them and become a master of that tier (greatly increasing the quality of your crafted works and sometimes creating double the amount of product you normally would.) These tiers are Master Apprentice, Master Journeyman, Master Expert, Master Artisan and Grand Master.E
It’s Important to reach these master tiers because of the benefits they grant you, and they’re not that hard to reach once you’ve reached a new tier (every time you complete one tier the next one opens up, but you’re free to continue leveling up your old tier to Master status.) However, you cannot reach the master status of any tier unless you obtain the master status of the previous tier.
By the time you complete a tier you should be most of the ways through the quests in whatever area you happen to be located in. By then it should be a relatively simple task of resource grinding until you have enough materials to reach the master status of your previous tier. Keep in mind you can also simply buy the materials off of the auction house if you want to reach the master status faster (for every tier up until Artisan about two or three stacks of ingots, leather or wood will get you to master status if not close.)
The most important recipes in the game also require the mastery level, and it looks good to Kinships if you’re a master of any tier (even a simple master apprentice and master journeyman is favorable.) Kinships usually need crafters to make items and armor based on drops in dungeons, and most can’t be bothered to level up their craft on their own.
